The City
Weihai and Yantai cities lie on the peninsular in the north-east of Shandong, bordering both the Yellow sea and the Bohai Sea. The climate and coastal scenery allows for a large range of outdoor activities from Swimming on one of the many clean, sandy beaches to Hill walking in the range of small mountains that surround the city.
Weihai
The Weihai is small by Chinese standards. Only two million people. In recent years the Weihai Government has invested in environmental projects that have seen the city evolve from a back water naval town to a flourishing example modern living. The air is clean as is the water, making it the ideal place to come and experience one of China’s most livable cities.
Weihai is situated between rugged mountains and the sea. If you have an adventurous disposition there is plenty of bush walking, swimming and sightseeing.
The weather is hot and humid in summer averaging 30C and cold in winter with occasional snow falls averaging about 0C. In most days of the year, it is sunny and warm.

Yantai:
Yantai is quite a big city with total area of 13,000 square km. It has 909 km coastal. The city has 4 districts, 7 county-level cities and 1 county with the total population of 6.43 million.
Other options include visiting the many islands that the city boasts, maybe sampling one of the many excellent cuisines that are on offer, including the ‘Lu’ cuisine that is an integral part of the culture here. Perhaps even a visit to one of the many historic sights or relaxing with a round of Golf on one of the four international courses.
It is because of these many attributes that Yantai has earned titles like; ‘Model City for Environmental Protection’, ‘China Top City for Tourist Attraction’, ‘State Level Clean City’ and ‘International Wine City’ amongst many others.
The Yantai Climate is pleasant and its moderate year round temperatures reflect its proximity to the Sea.
From Yantai, all the major cities in China are accessible by air (many are also accessible by sea, bus or train), as well as being within easy reach of South Korea.

The school
The EF School is franchised by Baowei Education Group who also own 20 children’s English schools staffed by local teachers and 6 kindergartens.
Weihai EF School is in it’s 5th year. Along with 7 local staff, it has a Director of Studies and 7 foreign teachers .
The students range from pre-school to corporate learners. Usually, you will get to teach a variety of children, teenagers and adults. Classes are small, not exceeding 18 students (10-15 is normal).
The syllabus is set with the school providing what needs to be taught but not how. Allowing you the freedom to use your methods and experience to facilitate the learning, the school also has an extensive range of supplementary materials for you to use or adapt to your class. Ongoing professional development is also provided on a weekly basis to improve yourself and give you more ideas for the ESL classroom.
Yantai EF school has a 4 year history providing quality education to students in Yantai. The school provides a family atmosphere for both staff and students alike, and nurtures the development of both teachers and students. We are currently in the process of relocating the school to new premises, custom designed, and with dominating views of the city and the sea. 
As a school we teach students of all ages, from Early Learners through to Corporate Language training, allowing for a varied schedule and the accelerated growth in teaching experience.
The school is currently looking at the further development of its Professional Development Program for its teachers.

What we offer –
- 12 months in China
- Flights to and from China per 12 month Contract. (Initial flight reimbursed at 6 months or deducted from salary over the first 3 months then returned at the 6 month mark.)
- Visas reimbursed on arrival.
- Apartment (free share) or subidised own apartment
- Starting Salary is 5500RMB per month to 6000 RMB per month .
(living expenses incl. bills and entertainment is approx 3000 RMB)
- 40 hour week (approx 20 contact teaching hours) 2 Days off per week. Except during intensive periods. Summer and Winter will have special courses offered and a 6 day week is required. However these generally don’t last too long.
