Jiaying University is located in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province P.R.China. Meizhou is a historical city famous as “the home of culture, of football and of overseas Chinese” and “the capital of the Hakkas”. The hakka culture is well-known all over the world. And Meizhou was ranked as one of the 10 safest cities in China in 2007.
Meizhou would be considered a small city, by Chinese standards, with a population of approximately 1.5 million and the overall county population is approximately 4.5 million. Meizhou has the beautiful environment and is suitable for travelling and living. Public transportation is readily available and the city has most amenities western people would like to have available. Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are all easily accessible via train or bus. Additionally, Shantou (located on the east coast of China) is only 2-1/2 hours by train. There you can enjoy the beach.
Jiaying University is an institution of higher learning offering wide range of majors at undergraduate level. It was established 94 years ago and was the first university operated by the local authority in Guangdong Province in the 20th century. Jiaying University enjoys a quiet and beautiful environment and because of this it was appraised by the relevant departments of the State and Guangdong Province as one of the “National 400 Best Forestation Organizations” and “Civilized Organization”.   Jiaying University has an excellent teaching faculty and good facilities. It is one of the best local universities in Guangdong at undergraduate level.                 Jiaying University is famous for the home of overseas Chinese and Hakka culture. The study of Hakka Culture in the university is well known by people both of home and abroad. Its distinguished achievements in the study of the Hakka Culture attracts many advanced visiting scholars from universities and research institutes of more than 10 countries and regions, such as Harvard University (U.S.A), Cambridge University (U.K.), Toronto University (Canada), Waseda University (Japan) and National University of Singapore (Singapore).

Jiaying University covers an area of 80 hectares with building area of 370,000 square meters. The University has about 1,000 teachers, more than 13,000 full time students and 7567 adult students. At present the university consists of 16 departments and it offers 50 specialties or orientations, such as Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Chinese Language and Literature, English Language, Ideological and Political Education, Geography, Business Management, Finance Management, Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Information Engineering, Biology, Physical Education, Fine Arts, Applied Psychology, Law and Music.

Monthly salary (winter holidays included):
BA Degree/Lecturers: 5000 yuan,
MADegree/Associate Professors: 5500 yuan,
PhD/Professors: 6000 yuan.
Airfare (RMB): 8000 yuan one year contract
Travel allowance (RMB): 2000 yuan one year contract

Free apartment on campus with two bedrooms, one reading room, one sitting room, one bathroom, western toilet, kitchen, and with appliances such as water heater, washing machine, refrigerator, furniture, color TV with cable, air-conditioner, Microwave/oven, cooking stove, Telephone, computer with free internet access.
Note: Foreign teachers are responsible for paying electricity, water, telephone and gas.
