Details on Employment Contract at College of Foreign Studies
Liaoning University (Liaoyang Campus)
1. Instruction Hours: The invited party agrees to teach 14-16 hours per week in a five-day workweek.
2. Payment: The inviting party shall pay the invited party a monthly salary of RMB 3500 yuan for BA, RMB 4000 yuan for MA, and more for doctorate during the period of contract (from the date of arrival at his/her post to the completion of his/her teaching duties). 70% of the monthly payment of the invited party can be converted into foreign currency. If at any given period the working time is less than one month, the invited party shall receive a payment proportional to the number of days completed.
3. International Travel: For those who will work here for one academic year, the inviting party will pay the invited party a round international air ticket only on condition that the invited party shows the inviting party the receipt of the air ticket. If the invited party could not show the air ticket receipt, the inviting party can only pay RMB 3000 for one way and RMB 6000 for a round international travel allowance, which can’t be converted into foreign currency. For those who will work here for less than one academic year, the inviting part will pay the invited party a one-way international air ticket, which will be paid the same way as above-mentioned.
4. Tour: As a token of the inviting party’s appreciation for the invited party’s service, the inviting party will grant the invited party RMB 2200 yuan for travel in China during the interval of the two semesters. This allowance can not be converted into foreign currencies.
5. Lodging: The inviting party shall provide the invited party with furnished, heated apartment with TV set, telephone, refrigerator, air-conditioner, washing machine, and free access Internet. All further expenses occurred in China after the completion of his/her teaching duties will be the invited party’s responsibility. The inviting party will not provide computer for the invited party and the latter are expected to be responsible for his/her own PC himself/herself.
6. Vacations: Paid vacations. Except winter or summer vacation of the inviting party during the period of contact, the invited party enjoys all legal public holidays of Chinese people, and one day of his/her religious holiday.
7. Medical Care:
a) The invited party should present the inviting party a medical certificate about his/her recent health status issued by any formal hospital or any professional medical doctor in his/her home country, and accept necessary re-examination paid by the inviting party on some of the items after arriving in China.
b) Costs incurred by any of the following are the invited party’s responsibility: plastic (orthopedics) operation, dental cleaning and denture installation, and apparatus belonging to one own, such as spectacles, crutches.
c) The invited party should be responsible for their own travel insurance and medical care incurred when traveling for a non-inviting party -sponsored trip.
d) The inviting party will be responsible for the other medical care of the invited party incurred during his/her work period in China but the choice of hospital care provided will be at the inviting party’s discretion, otherwise the invited party should be responsible for the medical care.
e) Providing the invited party is sick, the inviting party should pay the invited party the amount of payment according to the following ratio:
If the number of the days of sick leave is accumulatively less than 30 days, the payment will be 100% paid;
If the number of the days of sick leave is accumulatively more than 30 days (including 30 days), the inviting party has the right to terminate the contract, otherwise the payment will be 70% paid.
8. Leave of Absence
The invited party may ask for leave in case he/she is ill or has some personal affairs to attend to. Sick leave will be approved upon the presentation of a medical doctor’s certificate. Leave of absence must have period permission from the inviting party on condition that it will not disturb teaching schedule, otherwise the invited party’s salary is to be deducted by the day of absence.
