Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College
Liuzhou Vocational & Technical college is located in Liuzhou, Guangxi, a world well-known bonsai city and an important industrial and commercial trade city in the southwest of China. Liuzhou, also known as Dragon city, is a regional central city and traffic hub of comprehensive development guided by industry. It is a well-known historical and cultural city with unique landscape scenes. There are 48 minority nationalities inhabiting here such as Han, Zhuang, Miao,Yao,Dong, etc. The college was established as one of the first fourteen full-time vocational & technical colleges. It covers an area of over 502 mu, RMB 210 million worth of fixed assets, the library with a collection of more than 710,000 books. There are more than 8,000 full-time students studying and living in the college. In 2007, the college was defined as the National Model Vocational & Technical College.
Established in the college are 8 departments and 46 specialties. The college recruits students from Guangxi and other 20 provinces. The college has been defined as a training college for the shortage of talents of Automobile Application and Maintenance, the first batch of training bases for national high-tech talents (electromechanical items ), the NC Technology Training Base supported by Central Financial Award, an examplary unit of National Young Workers’ Skill Appraisal, the excellent employment training base of Guangxi Autonomous Region for the poor labor force transferred from the countryside.
About 2 foreigners are needed each academic year to teach English on regular basis at college level. Two native speakers of English with required qualifications.
1、Qualifications and Salary with Fringe Benefits:
Monthly Salary: 3,500 Yuan for those holding Bachelor’s degree with some TESL training and teaching experience; 4,000 Yuan for Master’s degree holders with English teaching experience and research work.
Travel Allowance: 1,100 Yuan granted by the end of a semester for travel in the country.
Medical Care: Given the same medical care as the Chinese staff for minor ailments; serious ailments shall be covered by the patient him/herself. It is suggested that candidates should have their medical insurance before coming to China.
Transportation: Traveling expenses from the home country to Liuzhou and back to the home country shall be covered by the candidate him/herself. Arrival pick-up, departure see-off are provided for free.
Lodging: Free housing, a fully furnished apartment of 2 bedrooms and a sitting-room with an air-conditioner, a telephone, a TV set, a washing machine, a water heater, and bathroom and kitchen facilities. Gas, electricity and telephone bill within the city shall be covered by the college.
2. Teaching tasks:
1) The average teaching task is 14-16 class hours a week.
2) Be devoted to the teaching tasks assigned; submit the semester teaching plan and syllabus to the employing department before the new semester begins; submit a teaching report by the end of a semester in duplicate, one to the employing department and the other to the Office of Foreign Affairs.
3. Application
To apply for a teaching position at Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College, the following formalities are necessary.
Submit resume(curriculum vitae), 2 letters of recommendation, copies of diploma and passport.
After consent and examination by the employing department and the Office of Foreign Affairs, the above-mentioned documents are to be submitted to the higher authority for approval.
After approval by the higher authority concerned, the candidates will receive Confirmation Document and Notice of Visa Application, by which they can start applying for a working visa at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate ( General ) close the their locality.
After obtaining the visa, the candidate can make flight reservation and inform the Office of Foreign Affairs for pick-up arrangement.
Application time: March—June each year to apply for a position in the Fall Semester; September-December to apply for a position in the Spring Semester.
4. Term and Contract
Candidates can apply for an academic year position or one academic year position with a possibility of extension for another year. After arrival at Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College, the approval candidate should sign the College Contract with the employing department.
